Course Outline

In this course you will learn about designing and programming home pages for use on the Internet. Before you
are finished this course, you will mount your home pages – called a web site – on a web server so that anyone
can view them. Actually, you will make several home pages, each building on the knowledge and skills you
mastered in the previous home pages.



Your marks will be calculated on the following basis:

• Assignments=                         70%
• Project =                                20%
• Workstation Operations=       10%

In Information Highway 1, you will learn:

• how to use the Internet for a variety of purposes such as:
  • research
  • net searching
  • electronic mail
  • correct behaviour and user expectations
  • using the Internet as a learning resource
• how to create and display web pages using the HTML scripting language
• about effective web page design
• how to create content and links on your web page
• how to use fonts and colors
• how to use animation
