Jim Lamalice

I was born in Hay River in 1918, four hours before Daniel Sonfrere was born. I started trapping alone when I was 15. I was taught by my father. I trapped mostly around Buffalo Lake. Slavey is my first language and I never learned how to read or write English. Parents need to use the language with their children.
